Character name: Genjo Sanzo
Fandom: Saiyuki
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): God reincarnated into a human body.
Character powers:
He bears the Infernal Land Sutra (which was one of the five documents used to create the world, whose particular abilities include dispelling the unholy, unlocking hidden abilities if used in combination with another Sutra, and sending out large blasts of raw power (though this may vary depending on his concentration). His revolver, a Smith & Wesson M-10 series model, can dispel unholy creatures, but otherwise acts like a regular gun.
As a God whose punishment was banishment from Heaven and to be forced into the cycle of reincarnation, he has retained some of his former attributes, such as being inhumanly fast and strong (but with little endurance, so he sleeps a lot when he's forced to fight above a human's normal level); strong empathy (this disturbs him so much that he indulges in various vices to try to numb the discomfort); spandex space (but only for non-combat items aside from his Sutra, gun and ammo-- his crown, eating utensils, occasionally plates, etc); light (usually when channeling energy through prayer or song); and animals, with whom he can communicate (or at least make himself understood), think he's swell. Despite his empathy, he is extremely resistant to mind control, either via outright resisting, or soon breaking through the controlled state via force of will. Illusions rarely fool him. His voice, when he chants, is said to be so beautiful that it can 'pierce the heavens', though he mostly just uses it to sing lounge on karaoke nights.
He has been trained in creating and dispelling curses, bindings and wards, though this usually requires creating some kind of talisman or counter-ritual.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
They are extremely difficult to mind-control, and if someone actually succeeds, it doesn't last very long.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
He is aware of others' mental presence if they try to rummage around in his head, but they may pick up normal kinds of thoughts until he brings up psychic walls against it. His general mental state tends to be orderly when he is in his right mind, and either numb or psychopathically murderous when he isn't.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Yes.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
The same things one would normally pick up from anyone unless he puts his shields up.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
His childhood was extremely traumatic, but that doesn't tend to linger on the surface. Folks are welcome to ask!
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
He is rail-thin, has hair that looks like sunlit, metallic gold, pale skin, and violet eyes. Red dot on his forehead.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
No.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
He seems to be faster, stronger, and more durable than many humans, but pushing these things tires him out. Most notable is his speed and agility, which he often uses to escape demons and other supernatural creatures who are generally much faster than humans.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
I would prefer that he not be permanently maimed, but whatever else should be fine.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
There are some abilities that they probably couldn't reproduce, such as his divine voice, his Sutra, his gun, etc. But a general likeness is fine (and it's happened in the manga).
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
Yes, and it feels and seems like intense sunlight-- blazing, warm and golden. To those who can't see auras, his presence feels somewhat supernatural: his eyes have an inhuman gleam if one looks too closely, moonlight makes his skin glow too white, the sun is too bright on his hair.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Some, but he's also proficient in breaking them.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
To a degree. It's very circumstantial.
4.) What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Despite being a Buddhist monk, he drinks, gambles, smokes, does drugs, kills, and eats meat.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Sure.
part v.
1.) Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
Yes, but stick around to finish the RP.
2.) Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
Yes.
3.) Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
No.
4.) Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
It's all good.
